BARNTON'S historic FA Vase run is over.
The Villagers, playing in the second round for the first time, were undone 4-0 at home by Seaham Red Star in a tie delayed from last weekend when the clash was postponed due to a waterlogged Townfield pitch.
Barnton trailed by just the one goal after an even first half in which both sides had created a couple of chances.
But when Paul Gardiner netted with a free header at the back post two minutes into the second half for the team operating one level higher in the Northern League Division One it was going to be a long way back for Barnton.
Andrew Jennison, who scored Seaham's opener, added his second in the 64th minute and the scoring was wrapped up by Thomas Bott 12 minutes later.
Barnton, who had knocked out Bacup Borough in the previous round, are next scheduled to play in the North West Counties League at Sandbach United on Boxing Day, kick-off 3pm.
