MORE than 160 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in the latest 24-hour figures.
New data from Public Health England covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, December 12.
In Cheshire East, including Knutsford and Middlewich, there were 94 new cases of Covid-19 in that time.
That is more than the 71 new cases announced in Friday’s figures, and takes the borough’s total to 9,722 since the pandemic began.
In Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, there were 70 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours up to 9am today.
That is more than the 58 new cases announced in Friday’s figures, and takes the borough’s total to 9,622 since the pandemic started.
Overall, there were 164 new cases of Covid across the two boroughs in the latest 24-hour figures.
Meanwhile, Cheshire West’s seven-day infection rate has risen week-on-week in new figures from Public Health England.
It now stands at 108.7 per 100,000 people, following 373 cases in the week up to December 7, compared to 99.7 per 100,000 people one week earlier.
Cheshire East’s infection rate has fallen from 125.2 per 100,000 people in the week up to November 30, to 100.5 per 100,000 people, following 386 cases in the week up to December 7.
