SISTERS separated because of the pandemic are overjoyed after meeting again.

Irene Greaves, 89, was able to see her big sister Phyllis Shaw, 92, for the first time in months thanks to her care home’s recently installed visitor pod.

Maintenance man Ian Tollitt created the specially screened area in the conservatory at Redwalls Nursing Home, in Weaverham Road, Sandiway, so residents could see family members protected from any Covid risk.

Activities coordinator Jodie Solaiman said: “Irene and Phyllis were delighted to be reunited ahead of Christmas.

“Beforehand they had both said ‘don’t bother to buy me a Christmas present’, but they both did and told each other off for it.'

Mrs Greaves’ daughter Jan said: “My nephew Keith brought my aunt over from Manchester to see my mum.

“It was fantastic for both of them as they had not seen each other since before my mum came into Redwalls at the beginning of October.”
