A CHIEF inspector from Cheshire Police is unhappy after hearing about Barnton Parish Council's concern over its PCSO.
Parish councillors are worried they are getting no feedback from Diana Wiggins about what is happening in the village and have asked her to provide regular updates on what she is doing.
PCSO Wiggins' superior Ch Ins Brian Roberts defended her record.
He said: "I am disappointed that this is the second occasion that Barnton Parish Council has expressed concerns in the local media, as it does not seem to correlate with the feedback that we are receiving about the positive work being carried out by PCSO Diana Wiggins in Barnton.
"Levels of crime and anti social behaviour are falling in Barnton. If I compare the figures for the same period last year, crime is down by approximately 25 per cent and anti social behaviour by approximately six per cent."
Ch Ins Roberts said although this was not solely down to Diana she was working together with partners at Vale Royal Borough Council and Weaver Vale Housing Trust to ensure the communities in Barnton got the best possible service.
He said Diana worked as part of the Community Action Team and when enforcement was required Diana was the first to ensure this took place.
"However she also tries to resolve matters before we start to criminalise individuals and she has spent some time trying to long-term problem solve some difficult issues in the village," he said.
"Sometimes this less dramatic style of policing does not achieve headlines but can significantly reduce problems in an area."
Ch Insp Roberts added: "I have written to Barnton Parish Council and we will be meeting shortly to ensure that we are working together to improve communications between us so they too can celebrate the excellent work being carried out in the village and hopefully work with us to produce some positive headlines for Barnton."
