EVEN if we are going to have a ‘staycation’ this summer, it is still a good idea to prepare your bodies for the scary prospect of summer clothing, where we expose our arms and legs.
Some of you may have big events planned such as a wedding and may feel anxious of the uncertainty of it having to be postponed or go ahead. Unfortunately, that is out of our control.
We may be losing motivation now, for some people this maybe where you start to think ‘forget it, I’m just going to not bother’ – and this mindset is unhealthy and an easy trap to plummet in to.
So over the next two weeks, my encouragement is to get event-ready for when we can socialise again.
If we try, we can start to feel a little better about ourselves. Now is a good time to take a little more time to look after ourselves and each other.
If you do have a wedding planned then keep on top of your skin and body care routines so that you will feel confident and great on the day, this goes for men too.
I have talked over the last few weeks about skin care for the face, so here are some body care tips to make are bodies summer ready.
Body scrub
Do this twice a week leaving a few days in between.
Look for an environmentally friendly body scrub without any microbeads in.
This is a simple way to make your skin feel smooth. I recommend that you apply a body scrub to dry skin prior to showering.
I find it is easier to apply whilst stood in the shower cubicle so that the scrub does not go all over the bathroom floor.
Start by massaging the scrub onto the arms and apply over the whole body. If you cannot reach your own back ask a family member or use a body brush with a long handle instead.

Concentrate on dry areas such as elbows and the heals of your feet.
Once you have applied the scrub, shower it off with warm water. On areas such as top of the thighs, you could shower in cold water to stimulate the circulation to help with cellulite.
Once the body scrub has been rinsed away. Towel dry your skin, use a body brush on the tops of arms, buttocks, and tops of legs. Then apply a body oil or lotion.
Always body scrub before applying self-tan as your tan application will be more even.
Body scrubbing will remove dead skin cells, which will both make the skin look smooth and bright.
Your body lotions will also work much better for you and absorb more easily instead of nourishing dead skin cells.
Body brushing
This is a great way to keep on top of cellulite, either use in circular movements or brush upwards to go with the blood flow.
Body brush on tops of arms, legs, and buttocks where circulation can be sluggish. Do this morning and evening and apply an anti-cellulite or firming body cream afterwards.
You can use a tea tree spray to clean the brush naturally and wash in warm soapy water each week.
Body products
I apply firming body oils to key areas such as tops of arms, the breasts, and tops of legs, then apply a nourishing or anti-ageing body lotion all over the body, after every shower.
You do not need to spend a lot of time on massaging it in as long as you apply it you will notice a big difference in how your skin looks over time.
Apply your foot cream twice a day so that your feet are flip-flop ready. Caudalie Foot Beauty Cream is a luxurious treat for your feet for daily use and not too greasy.
