RESIDENTS have expressed concern over plans by Tata Chemicals Europe to explore the possibility of building 1,200 homes on redundant land at Winnington Works.
Winnington and Castle Residents Voice are holding a meeting at 6.30pm on Tuesday, February 11 at Winnington Park Recreation Club to discuss their fears and see how they can mitigate against any negative impact on the area.

The land was made available following the closure of the soda ash plant in 2014. Demolition of the site started in January last year and will soon include the levelling of the 150ft high kilns and the remaining industrial buildings.
Tata is working in partnership with Gladman Developments to investigate the feasibility of constructing 1,200 homes, alongside the creation of public open spaces, leisure and community facilities and commercial activities.

If plans are developed, there will be a period of consultation with the local community, where the public will be able to have their say in shaping proposals in advance of any planning application being made.
