OFFICERS searching for missing Cuddington man Tony Wardle have discovered a body.
The body was found in the Peckforton area around 5.15pm on Sunday, October 27.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Formal identification has now confirmed that the body is that of missing Northwich man Tony Wardle.
"His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
"The death is not believed to be suspicious at the current time and a case file will be prepared for the coroner."
Fifty-year-old Tony – whose full name was Michael Anthony Wardle – was last seen on the morning of Monday, August 19 at the Pheasant pub near Tattenhall.
The search was scaled back in early September.
Supt Richard Rees, who was involved in the search operation, said at the time: "I would like to take this as an opportunity to thank everyone who has assisted in the search for Michael.
"In particular I would like to acknowledge the commitment and dedication shown by all of the volunteers.
"Throughout the search the teams have been working 12-hour days as part of their efforts to locate Tony.”
