A KINGSMEAD woman’s Bollywood dance group turned heads at this year’s Chester Diwali Parade.
Seventeen ladies from Lalita’s Namastey India – run by Lalita Sivakumar from Kingsmead – took their place in the parade through the historic city on Saturday, October 12.
The dancers, from across Northwich, have been performing in the parade for the past six years.
Diwalia – Hindu the festival of lights – usually falls in October or November and is celebrated across the world.
Cllr Gill Watson, Sheriff of Chester, was guest of honour at the event in the city.
Bollywood dancing is an Indian style which brings together hip hop, Bhangra and freestyle dancing.
It is also seen as a great fitness routine, and Lalita’s classes have been running for the past six years.
She is a Bollywood dance teacher at Sir John Deane’s College, conducts classes in primary schools, and also runs her weekly classes at Hartford Village Hall, every Thursday between 6pm and 8pm.
