THE VICS COLUMN – vice-chairman Ian Egerton gives an update from behind the scenes
THE 2019-2020 season is about to get underway for the Northwich Victoria Juniors.
Established in 1985 this is our incredible 34th season and the club continues to grow from strength to strength.
The Northwich Victoria Juniors is all about giving children the opportunity to play football.
And with our qualified coaches at all age groups give them a chance to grow and be coached to love and enjoy the game of football.
The Juniors this season are represented by 15 girls and boys teams that start at our early foundation level where children as young as six-years-old can come and enjoy the basics of football right the way through to our older age groups of U18s and also the girls Vixens development squad.
Our first-team manager Steve Wilkes is also committed to looking into our youth teams as they reach the adult age groups.
This will hopefully be the pathway into football for some children.
New Northwich Juniors Chairman Rob Walsh is very excited by the up and coming season.
Walsh gave us his thoughts on the year ahead.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted to continue the hard work set over previous years to continue to develop this fantastic club.
“We have an amazing group of volunteers and parents that help to run each age group.
“The committee meets every month to ensure we continue to support each other throughout the season.
“We are also delighted to have just received an FA ‘Grow the Game’ grant which is a scheme funded by the Football Association (The FA).
“It is delivered by the Football Foundation to provide a significant boost to the female opportunities in Northwich and we are very much looking forward to creating more female teams and playing opportunities within our club.
“I would like to reach out to anyone interested in either playing, coaching or helping to run a team at any level as we are very much committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for the children in Northwich.”
The relationship with both Northwich Victoria first team and the Northwich Vixens Ladies team has been vital in ensuring that all three clubs work together to create the opportunities and pathways in football for all our children to hopefully one day achieve their dreams.

Also, Northwich Victoria encourage all youngsters to come and watch the Senior team when possible by offering free admission to under 12s (accompanied by a paying adult) and for £2 for 12-16 year olds.
