THE open day at Northwich Fire Station, which was scheduled to be held tomorrow, has been cancelled, due to the ongoing major fire in Crewe.
Northwich Fire Station was due to have its doors opened to the public tomorrow, for a family open day.
However, as firefighters from Northwich are helping with the major incident in Crewe, the decision was made to cancel the event.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Due to the ongoing major incident in Crewe, Northwich firefighters have taken the difficult decision to cancel this weekends open day.
"The team are planning to reschedule the event later this year. Many thanks for your support."
Northwich firefighters, along with colleagues from across Cheshire, were called to an assisted living complex in Crewe yesterday evening where a huge fire had broken out.
Crews have now been at the scene for almost 24 hours.
