ROBBERS stole from a Cancer Research charity shop and assaulted a woman working in the store in Witton Street on Sunday.

Northwich Police are now on the hunt for the two men and two women who committed the ‘despicable offence’.

At approximately 3pm on Sunday, July 28, two men and two women entered the Cancer Research store on Witton Street. Once inside one of the men and both of the women began to browse the store.

Meanwhile, the second man made his way to the rear of the store where he was confronted by a female member of staff who asked if she could assist him.

The suspect then pushed the woman to the floor and made his way into the back office and stole a coat.

All four suspects then fled the store via the main entrance onto Witton Street, heading towards McDonalds.

The man who stole the coat is described as a white, of large build and approximately 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a cream jacket and had short fair hair.

One of the two women was described as white, with black hair which was swept back. She was described as wearing a dark jacket and a lot of make-up.

There are no descriptions of the other two suspects.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any information which may aid the investigation.

PC Graham Lee, of Northwich Police, said: “To stoop so low as to rob from a charity shop is a despicable offence and we are committed to doing all we can to trace the people responsible.

“Thankfully, the store worker who was assaulted during the incident did not sustain any serious injuries. However, she was left shaken as a result of her ordeal.
