A MAN has been airlifted to hospital with 'serious injuries' following a crash in Manchester Road between Northwich and Lostock Gralam.
Emergency services were called around 1.20pm after a Renault Clio crashed into a wall on the Manchester-bound carriageway, just east of the A530 Griffiths Road junction.
The driver - the only person in the car - was taken to Aintree Hospital by the air ambulance after it landed at the Manchester Road/Griffiths Road junction.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said at 3pm: "At 1.20pm on Tuesday, June 25 officers were called to reports of a one vehicle collision on Manchester Road, Northwich.
"Officers attended the scene and found that a black Renault Clio had collided with a wall.
"The driver of the car was injured as a result of the collision and they have been airlifted to hospital.
"As a result of the incident the A559, Manchester Road, was closed in both directions from Station Road to Griffiths Road."
The road closures were lifted at 4.33pm.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called to a road traffic collision in Manchester Road in Northwich at 1.19pm today.
"One patient was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries."
An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, senior clinician and air ambulance were all sent to the scene.
