A COUPLE who met through their love of all things fantasy have enjoyed a wedding beyond their wildest dreams.
The new Marie and Alan Rosewood were married at the newly renovated Hartford Golf Club on Saturday, May 4 – a fitting day given the couple’s first date was a Star Wars anniversary showing at the Regal cinema.

And ‘May the Fourth be with you’ was a key part of the ‘Swords and Wands’ theme throughout the day for the Northwich pair, who had spent two years planning and handmaking decorations, as a droid brought the rings down the aisle to John Williams’ iconic soundtrack.

The day also held a touching significance, as it remembered Marie’s uncle Kevin who had set the pair up on their first date after meeting at a medieval re-enactment group.
Sadly, Kevin died last year shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, and just days before Marie and Alan had attempted to pull the mammoth wedding together in little over a week.

Marie’s sister, Rebecca, said: “My uncle Kevin introduced them, and their first date was to see a Star Wars movie.
“They went out for three or four years and then – as you do at that age – just drifted apart.”

Alan moved away for work and it was only a few years ago when Kevin tracked down former re-enactment group members that they reconnected via Facebook, and have been glued together ever since’.
Rebecca said: “Last spring my uncle got diagnosed with cancer. He went back in in June thinking he would be having more treatment, but he was told he only had weeks left to live.
“My sister said ‘we aren’t waiting until next year’, and pulled the wedding together in a week and a half – we contacted societies and had people coming from all over.
“Sadly, two days before the wedding he just couldn’t hang on any longer.”

But the rearranged wedding on Saturday was a celebration befitting of any of the couple’s shared loves, with Harry Potter, Labyrinth, Vikings, Robin Hood, the Hobbit and Game of Thrones among the table themes.

With the guests in costume and photographer Emma Whittenbury capturing the medieval madness as it unfolded, the Pagan ceremony involved handfasting and a saber arch before The Bohemian Kings entertained on stage.
Marie said she and Alan had spent much of the past two years creating decorations and planning every last detail to realise their overall vision – with the support of the 'outstanding' wedding venue team.
And by Marie’s side as chief bridesmaid was her nana and best friend, 86-year-old Betty Hamlett.

The Rosewoods – founder members of the Knights of Conway re-enactment group – will now enjoy a series of ‘mini-moons’, including trips to Scotland and Disneyland.
