AN intrepid adventurer from Barnton tackled the Welsh 3000 in honour of her brave dad who’s fighting heart failure.
Sarah Conboy, from Townfield Lane, was joined by her friends at Moulton Adventure Group Mates during the gruelling 24-hour challenging which takes in 15 mountains across 30 miles – all to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
The 45-year-old, who was joined by 10 fellow walkers and a support team of five, completed the challenge in 21 hours and 32 minutes, raising £1,145 for the two charities.
It was the second time that the group attempted the challenge, having failed to complete the gruelling walk around five years ago.
She said: “I was absolutely determined to do it this time because this challenge was in honour of my brave dad, Alan Newall, who sadly has heart failure.
“He was my inspiration. He gave me my spirit of adventure and my determination to always look on the positive side of live and every step of the journey was in honour of him.”
Sarah said conditions for the walk, which she started at around 3.30am on Saturday, and finished in the early hours of Sunday morning, were ‘perfect’, and couldn’t thank her fellow walkers enough.
She said: “They and the support team kept me going. I am extremely grateful to them all.”
