POLICE are appealing for information from the public following an armed robbery in Middlewich.

The incident occurred at aound 12.15pm on Saturday, December 23, when two men entered the Post Office in Lewin Street, Middlewich, via the main entrance.

Once inside the store the men went to the counter and threatened staff with a baseball bat, demanding that they handed over the money from the till.

The men then stole a large quantity of cash before fleeing the store via the main entrance onto Lewin Street.

Both of the suspects were described as white men, in their late twenties/early thirties, of slim build and with Manchester accents.

DS Martin Caldwell said: “Investigations in relation to this incident are currently ongoing and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV analysis and speaking to local residents.

“As part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the Lewin Street area around the time this incident occurred and believes that they may have witnessed anything suspicious.

“I urge anyone who believes that they have any information which could assist our investigation, no matter how small, to contact the team here at Crewe on 101.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 442 of 24/12/2017.
