EARLY plans to build a rising sewer main immediately behind houses in Hartford are being considered by United Utilities.

As part of proposals for its next investment period between 2015 and 2020, United Utilities is looking at improving water quality at three waste water treatment sites in Oakmere, Cuddington and Northwich.

As part of the investments for the next five years, the company is proposing to build a rising sewer main in Hartford to transfer Oakmere and Cuddington waste water treatment works to the site at Northwich.

The proposed rising sewer main will be built on green land between two residential areas on Northwich Road and Hodge Lane.

Residents living on the two roads who will have the sewer main directly behind their homes, have been sent a letter from United Utilities’ consultant surveyors, The Brown Rural Partnership.

Writing on behalf of The Brown Rural Partnership, Karen Pyke, said: “One of the options currently under consideration is the transfer of Oakmere and Cuddington WwTW to Northwich WwTW via a rising sewer main and United Utilities are currently in the very early stages of data gathering along a corridor of land between these three sites.

“The water quality improvements form their commitment to comply with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive and Water Framework Directive.
They were asked to confirm their ‘interest’ in the land highlighted for sewer main development.

Ms Pyke added: “We would appreciate your response as soon as possible as the information is required as a matter of some urgency in order that United Utilities can provide notification of the proposed works to all parties.”
