VANDALS caused £2,000 worth of damage when they drove on to Northwich Cricket Club's ground and all over the pitch.
Police are appealing for information after the incident, which happened between 9.30pm on Wednesday, November 11, and 7.30am the following day.
Simon James, club treasurer, said: "Someone decided to take their car and drive all the way around the field doing wheel spins and donuts and made a right mess of the outfield.
"The question you have to ask is why are they doing it?
"Is it so they can spin their car and do skids and stuff? Don't you have to clean your car afterwards and could it damage your car? I don't understand the logic of doing it.
"It's not too bad for the cricket club because it's November, it's not cricket season so we have time to get it ready for April but we share our facility with Witton Albion Junior Football Club."
The junior football club has seven teams, including under sevens, under eights, under nines, under 10s, two under 11s teams and an under 12s team.
They play on four pitches at the cricket club, which is based at Moss Farm Leisure Complex.
Tim Punt, from the junior football club, said: "It's very sad that someone finds that a lot of fun to do and affect kids' football.
"It's just mindless vandalism, which is just appalling really.
"There's so many football teams around the Northwich area and not enough really good facilities for them so to damage one is really sad."
He said the club, which pays for a season's use of the facility upfront, is now having to find other pitches for its under 11s and under 12s to play their home fixtures.
He added: "If we could just get some information about this incident it would be most helpful and hope that by highlighting things like it people can be vigilant."
Anyone with information should ring Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 192 of 12th November 2015.
