OUR most recent meeting on 2nd November was opened with a fashion show laid on by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
Our own members showcased the clothes to much applause and appreciation for the rest of the members. This was followed by our AGM when we celebrated the best of what we have been involved with over this, the WI’s centenary year. Highlights included our own 65th birthday celebrations, with afternoon tea at Dunham Forrest Golf Club, a trip to Anglesey to visit the first meeting place of a WI in 1915, and an evening of extravagant entertainment by Judith Hibbert, a professional performer. The business of the AGM was concluded with the election of a new committee for 2016 and this year by the election of new presidents. Kath Dunn, our president for the last 3 years stepped down and Shelly Farley and Sandra Penwill became our joint presidents for the next year. Kath was warmly thanked for her hard work and cheerful leadership of our WI which is still growing.
Come and join us.
As the Christmas season approaches, members are looking forward to supporting the Comberbach Village Craft Fair on November 14 when we will again be setting up our cake stall with our tempting produce.
Our next meeting is on 6th December at Comberbach Village Hall when our choir will be singing and we will be welcoming Christine Stockton who will entertain us with “Rhythms of Flamenco”.
Visitors and new members are always welcome.
