CHESHIRE Outdoors, an entirely new concept aimed at making the wonders and adventure of the great British countryside available to the men, women and children of the north west and beyond has opened for business.
The 17 acre site which cost more than £250,000 to develop alongside Blakemere Craft Village in Northwich is the brainchild of entrepreneur Steve Birchall, founder of Cheshire Falconry and an avid supporter of countryside pursuits.
The Liverpool-born businessman, whose devotion for the countryside developed after he moved into Cheshire, came up with the idea of creating a safe, healthy destination offering a wide-range of fun attractions supplemented by a stunning rural location.
“This is an idea that has been with me for years,” said Steve speaking from the Reception and café of Cheshire Outdoors.
“So when the opportunity came to make my dream come true I grabbed it with both hands.
“I wanted a truly rural location that could offer a huge variety of activities that would attract a wide audience. Then when I successfully negotiated the purchase of a piece of woodland, I knew we were ready to go.”
Steve’s ten-strong team of staff started developing a range of activities across the site including falconry, archery, Segways, low ropes, laser clay, shooting, bush craft and woodland adventures to name just a few.
“We have fun activities for all whether you are looking to test your survival skills in the adjoining woodland or enjoy a leisurely Segway journey around the site,” Steve added.
“In fact last week I was so delighted to get the news that the entire development was now complete and we were ready to open our doors that I decided to let members of the public try the Cheshire Outdoors experience for themselves.”
Passing members of the public were invited in and many tried their hands at some of the activities, all of which received a clear ‘thumbs up’ from the visitors.
“We’re now open for business and looking forward to welcoming visitors as we speak,” said Steve.”Although visits by members of the public will be our mainstay, we are also looking forward to group visits by private and family parties as well as companies, schools and other organisations.
“We’ve already had interest from people wanting to book birthday treats and Hen and Stag parties. And we will of course organise an official opening later in the year.”
Steve is grateful for the support he has received from Cheshire West and Chester Council. He added: “They have been totally supportive for which I am extremely grateful. It means people can start enjoying Cheshire Outdoors now!”
