PEOPLE using a playing field and a lakeside recreational area are being urged to clear up after them.
The call comes from Cllr Annie Makepeace in response to rubbish being left at the Linnards Lane playing field in Wincham and the recreational area at Pikemere.
Cllr Makepeace is chairman of Wincham Parish Council, and is asking people to respect both areas and to take their rubbish home with them.
“People have been leaving cans, bottles, crisp packets and rubbish at the playing fields, which happens every time we have a bit of nice weather and a holiday,” she said.
“It seems to be particularly bad at the moment, and it is tragic to see the area looking like this in view of all the trouble we have gone to in order to improve it.
“We have volunteers who litter pick every couple of weeks, and I would ask people to be more thoughtful.”
She is asking residents who see people dropping litter to ask them to pick it up, or to discreetly take a photograph of the littering and send it to the parish council.
She is also concerned about broken tents which have been found at the lakeside recreational area at Pickmere, where barbecues have left areas of burnt grass.
“It is very disheartening to see this, and I would ask people to clean up after themselves,” she said.
“This is a shared environment, and there is no overnight access to the area.”
