POST war life is being recreated at a Northwich museum in a new exhibition that is also dementia aware.
Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse, in London Road, will give visitors chance to experience what life was like for teenagers and young adults in Cheshire in the 1950s and 60s.
The Coming of Age exhibition includes objects, memories and stories from Cheshire people as well as collections from west Cheshire's museums.
Davenham and Moulton councillor Gaynor Sinar said: “The 1950s and 60s were exciting decades, offering increased opportunities and freedoms after the wartime restrictions of the 1940s.
“The exhibition explores the milestones and experiences of becoming an adult during this time, including staying in, going out, getting your first job, leaving home and getting married.
"It is truly appealing to all ages.”
A living room has been recreated with 1950s-style wallpaper and 1960s pictures on the walls.
A television shows screen shots from the period.
There are also original 1960s local newspapers and reproductions of national newspapers, knitting books, a highway code book, shoes, recipe books and other familiar objects.
Smells include perfume, aftershave, furniture polish, popcorn, peppermint and chocolate.
The multi-sensory space has been created to promote discussion, trigger memories and encourage personal responses.
The Coming of Age exhibition runs until January 11.
