A CAMPAIGN is encouraging Vale Royal residents to visit their GP if they notice blood in their pee.
NHS Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is backing the national Be Clear on Cancer ‘Blood in Pee’ campaign from October 13 to November 23.
Each year, around 16, 600 people in England are diagnosed with bladder or kidney cancer and approximately 7, 500 die from the diseases.
In Vale Royal, in 2013-14, 20 people were diagnosed with bladder cancer and 13 with kidney cancer.
Dr Jonathan Griffiths, Chair of NHS Vale Royal CCG, said: “Blood in your pee is the most common symptom of both bladder and kidney cancer.
“If you notice blood in your pee, it is important to see your doctor as soon as possible.
"The earlier both cancers are detected, the easier they are to treat.
"Seeing your doctor early could save your life.”
