The BBC is set to shine the spotlight on a fireworks firm ahead of its Halloween spectacular in Nantwich.

Crewe-based Blitz, winners of the British Fireworks Championships, has been filmed for a forthcoming documentary on pyrotechnical experts.

Meanwhile the company is putting the finishing touches to a dazzlingly display to be staged as part of Spooktacular at Dorfold Park, Nantwich on October 25.

Blitz managing director John Malam said: “We are still working on the show design.

“We want to make this the biggest finale Nantwich, if not the North West, has ever seen. As British champions we have a reputation to live up to and can promise a pyro-technical musical that will make history.”

A team of explosive experts will set 3,000 fireworks to music, including chart hits and well-known classical tunes.

Some 10,000 people attended last year’s show. Popular attractions will return including a giant bonfire and licensed bar as well as fancy dress competitions and fairground rides.

A free shuttle bus will ferry families from Nantwich Civic Hall to Dorfold Park, picking up passengers at Snowhill car-park and Nantwich Football ground along the way.

Tickets are selling well online and can also be bought from Blitz on Hightown, Nantwich Waterside Café and Nantwich Tourist Information Centre.

They will also be available when Blitz set up a Halloween-themed stand on Nantwich town square on three Saturdays in the run up to the event – October 11, 18 and 25.

Dad-of-two John, from Shavington, said: “Winning the championships down in Plymouth was a proud day for Blitz.

“The BBC filmed us before and after for a programme due to be shown later in the autumn.

“All that recognition is great but as enthusiasts we just love to put on a good show and Dorfold Park is great venue. We can’t wait to return.”
