DISCERNING diners have been voting in their hundreds as part of the Nantwich Food Awards.
More than 1,000 people have logged onto the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival website to nominate their favourite venue in the new-look scheme rewarding South Cheshire eateries.
The former Dining Out Awards, run by the food festival committee, has been extended for 2014 to include a new category for food and drink retailers in Nantwich and the surrounding area.
Votes are cast online and as the closing date approaches, the festival website has seen a flurry of activity Festival chairman, Deborah Robb, said: “We’re still buzzing from a phenomenal festival and such amazing feedback.
“Now people are loving the opportunity to vote for their favourite eateries and food and drink retailers.”
The scheme recognises pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels based on their food, ambience and welcome.
Categories include Pub with Food, Restaurant or Bistro, Hotel Restaurant and Café or Coffee Bar, Food and Drink Retailer in Nantwich Town Centre and the Nantwich Area.
Nominations are for dining establishments within a 15-mile radius of Nantwich town centre, bounded by the M6 East, A525 South, A49 West and A54 North.
Everyone who nominates a venue will be entered into a draw to win a meal for two or a £25 voucher to spend at a food and drink shop.
Closing date to cast votes is midnight, October 20.
Winners will be unveiled at a presentation ceremony at Residence Bar and Restaurant in Nantwich on November 2.
Tickets for the evening which includes a light buffet, welcome drink and entertainment by tribute singer Megan Lee are £15.
