ST Mary’s Church in Whitegate has announced plans to decorate the chapel with a life sized tableau telling the story of The Nativity this December.
The scene will be brought to reality with fabric and flowers, displayed on willow figures, crafted by the ladies of the church flower group.
On Saturday, December 13, the church will be open to all visitors to view the tableau between 10am-4pm.
A spokesman said: “While you walk round the church, seasonal music will be played by members of our church and friends of the parish. This will fill the space, making it a wonderful experience and showing the true meaning of Christmas.
“The programme of Christmas music, including items prepared by children from our school, will continue throughout the day.
“These will be divided into 30minute slots to create a variety. We will also be including music recorded during this season by choirs and music groups from the local area.
“At 3.00pm a final concert consisting of many of the day’s performers, and also including our vicar Canon Chris Humphries, will take part in bringing the day to a fantastic conclusion.”
