WAITROSE shoppers can support a charity Christmas lunch and a remembrance garden by making a token gesture this month.
The Northwich store runs a Community Matters scheme whereby customers are given tokens at the checkout to drop in one of three charity boxes.
The store supports local good causes, and £1,000 is divided between three groups each month relative to the number of tokens each group is given by customers.
The groups being supported this month are The Salvation Army Northwich and Winsford, Grow and Sell Seed Kits for Schools, and, as one group, Moulton Pre-School, Kingsley and District Nursery and Crowton CE School.
Northwich Salvation Army Community Church is hosting a free Christmas Day meal for 30 to 40 people in the community, at which each person will receive a gift.
Kingsley Nursery is hoping to undertake structural work to make the pre-school more open, and Crowton School wants to create a garden in memory of a pupil.
The groups to benefit last month were Cheshire Autism Support, The Lion Salt Works and The Advice Partnership, who are to receive £406, £350 and £244 respectively.
