WINSFORD children cast off during Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s annual fishing competition.

Fifteen children, aged between six and 12, from the Greenfields, Glebe Green and Over neighbourhoods in Winsford were invited to take part in the day trip.

Held at Holmston Hall in Tarporley, the day was as a ‘thank you’ for all their hard work and help at the events organised by the GGO residents group held over the past twelve months.

Fifteen current and retired members of the trust’s trade staff brought along their rods and equipment so each of the children had one to one tuition.

Debbie Skilling, customer engagement officer, who organised the trip, said: “It’s a great opportunity to thank the children for all their help in supporting events in their neighbourhood.

“They listened carefully and patiently, taking on board all the advice the fishermen offered and were very well behaved.

“Our staff were brilliant and they enjoy the chance to pass on their considerable knowledge and to hopefully encourage the youngsters to become the fishermen of the future.”

Each child received a certificate as a memento of the day.
