A CREWE cancer survivor is calling on men, women and children to sign up to March On Cancer and walk all over the disease.
Paula Jones, who lives in Shavington, is encouraging as many people as possible to join her and take part in the first March On Cancer event this month.
Paula was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she was just 23 in 1996 and made the brave decision to undergo a hysterectomy.
She fundraised for Cancer Research UK for years with her local committee in Crewe and Nantwich before joining the organisation officially in 2005.
Now aged 42, Paula is a senior local fundraising manager for the charity.
She said: “I feel so lucky to have survived cervical cancer and it’s thanks to research that I am still here today, 18 years later.
“Success stories like mine would not be possible without the work of Cancer Research UK.”
March On Cancer is a sponsored night-time walk involving patients, scientists and entertainment that will take place in Chester and Manchester on Saturday, October 11.
Participants will come together and march for about 45 minutes through the streets accompanied by live music, entertainment and stories from people who’ve beaten cancer.
