VILLAGERS are gearing up to fight plans for another housing estate in Davenham.
Residents of Green Lane and Green Avenue packed into the latest parish council meeting after finding out about a proposal for up to 77 houses behind their homes.
The outline planning application for land off Green Lane has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council's planning department by Strategic Land Group.
One man at the meeting said: "Planning was refused in that field for access reasons in 1977 so why is it suddenly OK today when there's more traffic about than there was before?"
Davenham parish councillors, who had not officially been sent the plans before their meeting, said they hoped the case against more homes would be stronger in the light of Cheshire West and Chester Council's policies and targets.
Clr Kate Mattinson, vice chairman of the parish council, said: "We're in a different position now that Cheshire West and Chester Council has reached its five-year housing land supply, we should be in a stronger position.
"The Cheshire West and Chester Local Plan as it stands also gives protection to Davenham, it's good.
"Developers should be targeting brown field sites but are targeting places like Davenham because they know they can get more for their houses here."
Councillors said arguments against the houses should be made on planning grounds and urged residents to read through the planning application and make their representations to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
"To anyone who wants to object I would urge each and every one of you to do so and to comment online because we are stronger collectively," said Clr Arthur Wood.
