A Crewe man, who is one of Kylie Minogue’s biggest fans, finally got to meet his idol – and then had his arm tattooed with her autograph.
Nick Franklin, 36, was at the concert in Manchester last Friday when Kylie’s bodyguard recognised him, having attended the Liverpool concert just two days earlier.
“He went away and came back 10 minutes later and said that it would be a shame to leave me outside – why don’t you come in?”
A gobsmacked Nick was then whisked backstage and past security to spend 15 minutes with the Aussie pop queen before the concert began.
“It was a dream come true,” said Nick, who works as a creative team leader at Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester.
“There were police everywhere and I was shaking like a leaf, but she just said ‘come and give me a hug’, so I did.
"It was surreal. We chatted about The Voice, her fans, eBay, the current tour, and she signed my T-shirt and arm - which I had tattooed the following day."
“I’ve been a fan for more than 15 years, so it was all a bit nuts. I’ve seen her before when I was in the audience for The Voice last year and I was invited up on stage to dance to ‘The Locomotion’. But talking to her was just amazing.
"After booking concert tickets, I had been trying to arrange a ‘Meet and greet’ with her, which was £495, but it was sold out.
“Luckily this was so much better!”
Nick is now planning his next Kylie concert in Newcastle in November.
