A WINSFORD funeral directors has teamed up with a Middlewich opticians for a visionary campaign to help others around the world see.
Fowles Funeral Services has joined with CATS optometrists in a campaign to collect unwanted pairs of glasses.
The donated spectacles will be collected to help the charity, One Sight, who have helped more than 8.5 million people in 40 countries across the world to see.
Dave Fowles said: “In some countries a pair of glasses can cost up to a year’s wages. So, we are asking people to have a look in their cupboards and drawers to see if they have any old pairs of glasses we can have.”
The funeral business, based in Delamere Street, Winsford, is often asked by clients if they know of anywhere they can take old glasses for recycling, which prompted Dave to contact One Sight.
“One Sight send all their donated glasses to a local prison where they are sorted, cleaned and tested before being sent to sight clinics in communities all around the world to help those who aren’t as lucky as us,” he added.
An old, unused pair of glasses just gathering dust could change the life of someone living in a village thousands of miles away.”
