COLLEGE principal Richard Hollywood was first in line for the big freeze in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
Richard was one of 20 members of staff at Mid Cheshire College who took part in a mass ice bucket challenge for charity.
The event drew a large crowd from the college and the local area to see students and staff empty buckets of freezing water over Richard and his colleagues.
Students filmed the event, which has been posted on You Tube, raising hundreds of pounds for the hospice.
“There is nothing more uncomfortable than having a bucket of ice cold water thrown on top of you, but we have raised a great deal of money for a good cause, and the students have played a pivotal role in that,” said Richard.
“Plus, if David Beckham can do it so can I!”
The Mid Cheshire College team is one of the few college groups in the UK to have taken part in the popular challenge.
The mass ice bucket fundraiser follows the college’s current ‘selfie’ campaign, which is being featured online and in print throughout the county to promote the college and its facilities.
