AN arson investigation is underway in Crewe after two cars and a mini bus were burnt out in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to Hawthorn Grove at 2:51am this morning, Thursday 25 September 2014, where the vehicles were well alight.
Two of the crew wore breathing apparatus and three hose reels were used to put out the fire.
Police and a fire investigator from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and a criminal investigation is now underway.
Arson reduction manager Colin Heyes said: “This incident could have been so much worse if it had spread to the houses close-by where people where sleeping.
“The vehicles were completely burnt out and there were other cars in the car park that the fire would have spread to had we not been called.
“Deliberate fires can cost lives and I would appeal to anyone who may have any information about who is responsible to call police on 101 quoting incident number 65 of 25 September, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
