THE University of Liverpool’s popular Lecture series continues at Sir John Deane’s with a one-day course on Phillip, Alexander and the Hellenistic World.
The lecture is being taken by Dr David Smith and starts in 359 BC when Phillip II ascended to the throne. Visitors will be taken through a time of aggressive politics and military might which created Macedon as a superpower at the heart of an empire. His son Alexander would go on to change the ancient world – expanding the limits of Greek culture as far east as India and Afghanistan – crushing the Persian empire.
The lecture takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, October 4 and is being held at Sir John Deane’s, Monarch Drive, Northwich. Cost: £35 with a complimentary lunch. To book tickets please contact the SJD Adult Education team on 01606 810020.
