WORK has been completed on a 21,000 sq ft new building for Wincham-based engineering specialist Cygnet Group, giving the company the height and space it needs to develop the next generation of its machines.
The new machinery assembly, testing and warehousing facility has been built on the same site as Cygnet Group’s current premises at New Cheshire Business Park in the village.
The building gives the company three times the warehousing and machinery testing space it had previously.
It also contains a 16 tonne crane which will be used to build and test the fibre processing machines and subsea oil and gas safety connectors it manufactures and exports to customers around the world.
Matthew Kimpton-Smith, Cygnet Group managing director, said: “The need for us to expand and improve our facilities is being driven by global demand for our products, in particular from the burgeoning fibre processing market. This in turn is being fuelled by considerable growth in aerospace, automotive and wind energy.
“The new building ultimately de-risks the purchase of our equipment because we can now fully test our machines before shipping to customers.
“An influx of new orders in the first half of this year makes the timing of this build more critical than ever.”
Cygnet Group appointed Skelmersdale-based Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) to complete the build with funding from RBS. Project management was carried out by Chester-based Tor Project Services, and legal advice was provided by DTM Legal.
