THE second annual musical showcase in aid of Alzheimer’s Society will be held in Middlewich Civic Hall next week on Friday, September 26.

Organised by the local Alzheimer’s Society Fundraising Volunteer Group, the event will begin at 7pm and will feature the fantastic Sandbach & District U3A Brass Band and the Middlewich High School Community Choir.

Sandbach & U3A Brass Band will play a variety of solo and group pieces including marches, overtures, and selections from musicals.

Volunteers from Alzheimer’s Society will be there with local information should those attending the event have any questions about the charity or dementia.

David Whitworth, volunteer event organiser, said: “One of the local activities organised by the Alzheimer’s Society is called Singing for the Brain.

“This builds on the fact that people with dementia can recall words of songs and melodies after other memories have faded.

“We felt that a musical showcase to raise funds for Alzheimer’s was a very fitting way to reflect and publicise this.

“This year we’re very pleased to be able to put this on at the Middlewich Civic Hall.

“We chose this not only because it’s local for all our performers, but also because improving dementia services for the people of Middlewich is a priority for the Town Mayor, Cllr Paul Edwards and we are delighted that Cllr Edwards will be our guest at the concert.”

Tickets cost £6 and can be obtained from Middlewich Town Council on 01606 833434 or from Chisholm’s Newsagents, Middlewich on 01606 833209.
