RAISING a glass and enjoying each others company was the order of the day as Northwich held its annual beer extravaganza.
The 21st annual Northwich Beer Festival took place at Winnington Park Recreation Club on September 19 and 20 with more than 40 barrels of ale and cider on offer to visitors.
Guests included Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans who popped along to try some of the ales on offer – and even spent some time serving – including Wobbly Bob from brewery Phoenix, a new Phoenix ale called Sticky Wicket, Tipsy Angel's Angel's Folly, Problem Child's Scallywag and a beer from Blackjack.
On Twitter Mr Evans said: "Another great event organised by @RotaryNorthwich enjoyed serving beer lovers."
Steve Wheat, chairman of the Rotary Northwich Beer Festival organising committee, told the Guardian the whole of the town supported the event.
"Once again the Rotary Northwich Beer Festival was a resounding success made possible by our faithful customers, the community of Northwich and the volunteers who worked at the bar and behind the scenes," he said.
"This is the second time we have held the event ‘out-of-town’ at Winnington Park Recreation Club but nonetheless it remains as popular as ever to the benefit of local charities.
There was a great selection of beers and ciders supported by great bands and I would like to thank all our customer, our barrel and other sponsors, and the team who made it happen.
"See you all next year.’’
