NANTWICH Town were denied all three points at Halesowen Town on Tuesday after the hosts bagged a late leveller.
Dabbers striker Aaron Burns had opened the scoring for the visitors on 16 minutes, but in the second minute of injury time a goal from substitute Joesph Hull sealed Halesowen a point.
Danny Johnson’s side were dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday in the first qualifying round at the hands of Salford City.
The Evo-Stik First Division North side, backed by Manchester United’s ‘Class of ‘92’, sailed through at the Dabbers’ expense with a 2-0 win.
Former United youngster Danny Webber, whose career also spanned the likes of Watford, Sheffield United, Portsmouth and Leeds United, was on the scoresheet alongside fellow forward Gareth Seddon.
It was the former Bury and Rushden & Diamonds man who opened the scoring in front of Gary and Phil Neville with a header from a corner after 75 minutes.
Nantwich could have taken the lead prior to Seddon’s opener when Max Harrop was brought down and his following free kick clipped the bar.
But Webber put the game beyond doubt one minute into added time when he broke free of the defence and slotted home.
And boss Johnson recognized the influence of Webber and Seddon.
He said: “Gareth Seddon and Danny Webber – they are the two best forwards that these lads will come across and there are no two better forwards in the league. They were the difference.
“Performance wise, I thought the lads had done okay but, when you have two players like that up front they are going to be a threat and they will be a handful – they have won them the game.”
Nantwich maintained their Cheshire County ECB Premier League status with a six-wicket win at Bowdon on the final day.
Wistaston secured third spot in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One with a win by 32 runs at Holmes Chapel, while Haslington missed out on the TACS Division Three title after being held to a draw at Port Shrigley.
More than 900 competitors took to Barony Park in Nantwich to compete in the North West Triathlon on Sunday.
Triathletes competed in four disciplines including the sprint, super sprint, team relay and fun race. The longest race, the sprint, involved a 500m swim, 20km cycle ride and 5km run.
