RESIDENTS looking to move house are being invited to a home swapping event that has been likened to speed dating.
Weaver Vale Housing Trust is holding its first Homeswapper event at Winsford Lifestyle Centre on Friday, September 19.
The event is aimed at social housing residents who can register for free on the Homeswapper scheme and are then eligible to exchange their home with other social housing residents across the UK.
Jackie Hodgson, the trust's housing manager, said: "This is a first for us and similar events in other parts of the country have been likened to ‘Speed dating ‘events!"
Lyn Hamlett, from the trust, said: "Homeswapper is for anyone in social housing across the country who fancies moving into a different property.
"You might be in a big home and want to downsize or the other way around or you might have changed your job and want to be closer to work or nearer to family.
"People wouldn't necessarily be eligible to go on the housing list again once they're housed and deemed as being in suitable accommodation so it's not that easy to move – but this process makes it easy.
"It can be a very very quick process."
The Homeswapper website gives residents a place to advertise their home and browse other properties on offer.
The Homeswapper event will give residents chance to meet their match.
There will also be teams on hand to talk to residents about how to advertise their house effectively, tips on moving house from the handyman service and advice on the financial implications of moving from the Money Matters team.
A soft play area and colouring competition will be available for children.
It takes place from12.30pm to 2.30pm.
