READERS hope to evoke some memories with this 1930s primary school photograph.

The picture shows a class of boys with very serious expressions and was taken at a school in Middlewich in 1930.

It was sent in by Dave and Jean Jones, from Middlewich, who unearthed it in Jean's father's belongings after he died earlier this year.

Bob Berrington was a Middlewich man who was born in Beech Street in December 1923.

After school Bob worked at Fodens Trucks, in Elworth, starting in the stores department and moving on to the tool room, discovering what would become a lifelong love of engineering, which also saw him helping in the woodwork and metalwork department of Middlewich High School in the 1980s.

Dave said: "While sorting out Jean's late dads stuff, we came across an old school photo from the 1930s.

"It is complete with all names so hopefully will stir a few family memories.

"It also show Bob's good friend Jim Mellor.

"The school will be a Middlewich one and as it states six years old an infant/junior school.

"I'm sure your older readers will come up with more details."

Names included with the photograph are Joe Walker, Bert Fortnum, Jim Mellor, B Taylor, Ray Whittaker, T Burgess, F Latham, Bill Jackson, J Latham, F Kirk, T Higginson, J Upton, N Jinks, Ron Ollier, F Robinson, Ken Oakes, Russ Robinson and Ken Ravenscroft.
