HIGH school students feature on a new radio series about education.
In July a BBC Radio 4 producer visited Tara Stych and her year eight English lesson at Tarporley High School as part of a recording for the series called The Educators.
Tarporley students had represented the school so well on BBC School Report in the past that the school was recommended to Radio 4 by the head of BBC School Report in the UK.
The Educators sees Radio 4 presenter Sarah Montague interview different figures in education every week.
The fourth episode aired on September 3, and featured Daisy Christodoulou, who argued that students were not receiving enough fact-based teaching.
On the programme Tarporley students were featured in their English lesson on Anne Frank and on interview, as they were asked their views on which learning styles suited them best, fact-based or skills-based learning.
Tara Stych said: “We were so delighted when the BBC approached us to record this programme.
“I planned a lesson that deliberately incorporated both facts and skills, and it was excellent to see that our students were so articulate and passionate when interviewed about their learning preferences.”
The episode is still available to listen to via BBC iplayer on catch up.
