VICE-president Shelly Farley welcomed members to the September meeting of Comberbach WI and thanked Marjorie Hall for the beautiful flower arrangement on her table. She reported that the August tasty evening had demonstrated members’ culinary talents, providing an array of sweet and savoury dishes to share.
The garden party had been successful and an opportunity to play croquet and crazy golf. The Ramblers added a new area to their itinerary, with coffee at Abbeywood Gardens. They walked around Ashton Hayes in July and had lunch at the Goshawk. In August, they meandered along the canal from Acton Bridge to lunch at the Leigh Arms.
Members were invited to sign up for the autumn meeting in Winsford to hear cookery writer Prue Leith speak; arrangements were finalised for the trip to the Victorian Baths in Manchester; the choir will be rehearsing for a Christmas performance, with the addition of handbell ringing, and members will be making their individual pennant for the group’s WI centenary bunting.
Speaker for the evening was Gill Black, who introduced members to crystal healing therapy, with its long history of using crystals for mystical and healing purposes. Gill showed how the vibrations of various coloured crystals can be used to balance disharmonies in the body and sometimes bring pain relief.
The next meeting will be on October 6 at 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall, with guest speaker Sue Beesley from the Bluebell Gardens.
Visitors are always welcome.
