WINSFORD U3A opened a special exhibition at Winsford Library on Saturday, August 2, to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
The event was launched with a 40 minute remembrance service entitled 'Lest we Forget'.
Renditions of songs including 'It's a long way to Tipperary' and 'Pack up Your Troubles' reflected the early optimism of the Great War period before poems and readings illustrated the stark realities of the conflict.
U3A members, Ralph Ellis and Judy Write, read their self penned poems, 'A Great War journey' and 'Remembrance', inspired by visits to war cemeteries abroad.
The exhibition is open until Saturday, August 9 and copies of the songs and readings are available from Winsford Library.
On Friday, August 29 between 10am-3pm, Winsford U3A will be having an open day at the Library.
