A COMMEMORATIVE service and open day will be held in Davenham to mark 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.
St. Wilfrid’s Church, in Church Street, will be open from 9.30am to 4pm on Monday, August 4, and the Service of Commemoration will start at 10.45am.
All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be available after the service.
Attendees are invited to wear their medals with pride, or those of their fathers or grandfathers.
A candlelight vigil will also be held at the Royal British Legion club, in Firthfields, from 9pm to 11pm.
