A FESTIVAL of literature comes to a close this week after a month of events in Northwich.
The third annual Northwich LitFest has proved a growing success showcasing a variety of entertaining speakers, from scriptwriters to BBC Radio 4’s The Archers to Julia Baird, sister of John Lennon.
Organiser Susi Osborne said: “The amount of work and effort I put into Northwich LitFest can feel almost overwhelming at times, but when I see so many people coming to the venues and I hear their wonderful comments, it makes it all worthwhile.
“Some of the speakers we’ve had have been just incredible.”
Susi organised 13 events this year, all of them during June.
This final week sees author Julia Crouch in conversation with the doyenne of the literary interview, Laura Lockington.
Psychological thrillers are Julia’s genre and the evening is entitled ‘Dark & Stormy – an evening of crime’.
It takes place at Davenham Theatre on Wednesday, June 25, at 7.30pm.
The grand finale of Northwich LitFest takes place on Saturday, June 28, 7.30pm at The Harlequin Theatre when Sunny Ormonde returns to town.
Sunny plays Lilian Bellamy in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers and last year brought her One Woman Show to the LitFest. Sunny agreed to return again this year with a new show, this time accompanied by John Telfer, who plays Rev Alan Franks, and two jazz musicians.
“Demand for this event is high so book your tickets now, the event was sold out last year so don’t leave it until you’re too late,” Susi said.
