THE Delamere Street Festival returns to Winsford as ‘Dfest’ this month, featuring an array of live music and family entertainment.
Local charities, community groups and good causes will have stalls up and down the street outside St John’s Church to raise awareness and funding on Saturday, June 28.
In Oak View Academy car park, there will be a fun fair, hog roast, children’s crafts and a vehicle display.
“This will be a festival for the whole community,” said Reverend George Crowder.
“It was big success last year when we celebrated the 150th anniversary of the church building, so we decided to do it again and rebrand it as Dfest.
Between 11am-5pm, Dfest deliver music from the likes of Sowetan boyband, Africa Entsha and Seychelles roots artist, Golty Farabeau.
Elsewhere will feature alternative entertainment stage boasting local live acts and the opportunity for visitors to show off their talent with some karaoke. Local history boards and artwork specially commissioned for the festival will be on display in the church.
St John’s will hold a choral showcase as a dozen choirs will perform throughout the afternoon.
Civic dignitaries including town mayor, clr Gina Lewis, will join local primary school children and the town mayor in the parade, which gets underway from Tesco car park at 11am.
Each school group will give a performance on the theme of peace, in commemoration of the centenary of the First World War.
