MID Cheshire is gearing up for National Bike Week with a number of events planned between June 14 and 22.
The week is all about celebrating everyday cycling, something that the Guardian’s long-running Pedal Power campaign has championed since it began in November 2012.
Bike Week also includes Bike to Work Day, which a Northwich business park is embracing wholeheartedly.
• Cyclists taking part in the day at Gadbrook Park will receive novel medallions to mark their participation.
It takes place on Tuesday, June 17, from 6am to 9.30am, and Roberts Bakery is donating gingerbread medallions to those taking part.
Everyone who cycles to work on the day will be entered in a prize draw worth up to £500, and on arrival at the park vouchers will be distributed for a breakfast deal provided by Caffe Arabica.
The main sponsor of the event will be Stephen Hall, the managing director of H and M Disinfection Systems, which is based on the park.
“I am delighted to welcome all the riders to the park, and look forward to my annual chat with the unicycle rider from the Hut Group,” said Mr Hall.
“I would encourage everyone to join in, and will be on hand to provide cycling advice throughout the morning.”
The Bike to Work day is supported and financed by the Gadbrook Park Business Improvement District.
• The Pedal Power campaign has two events planned to get mid Cheshire’s cyclists together.
The first is a lunch hour ride at 1pm on Thursday, June 19.
Cyclists should meet at the entrance to Carey Park, in Cumberland car park, for a five mile ride around Northwich Woodlands.
A social event has been planned for Saturday, June 21, in the form of a Pedal Power Picnic.
The idea of this is for cyclists to bring a picnic to Marbury Park any time from 12.30pm and either travel there by bike or link the picnic in with a bike ride.
The picnic will take place by the rangers’ cabins at the park.
• The Breeze network is also marking Bike Week with a number of rides for women and children.
The five-mile ‘Dutton Doddle’ meets by the Leigh Arms pub, by Acton swing bridge, at 11am on June 15.
A 30-mile ‘Breeze do Bike Week: Peckforton Pedal’ meets at Hartford train station at 10am on June 17.
A 12-mile ‘Breeze do Bike Week: Whitegate Way’ meets at Hartford train station at 10am on June 18.
A six-mile ride for beginners starts at Northwich Library at 2.30pm on June 19 and heads out to Marbury Park.
A five-mile ‘Big Breeze Bike Ride - Summer Ride and Read’ meeets at Sandiway Library at 10am on June 21, men are also welcome on this family ride.

Community fitness instructor Theresa Bateman, founder of Fabb Fitness, hopes to raise funds for Northwich children’s chairty The Joshua Tree with a 60-mile London to Brighton bike ride on June 15.
She is completing the bike ride with her friend Pam Ford who is raising funds for the British Heart Foundation.
Theresa’s next gruelling event will be the Tough Mudder challenge with other Fabb Fitness enthusiasts in August and Pam will be taking part in the new ‘Run or Dye’ 5K run for St Luke’s Hospice.
The latest kids’ craze Loom Bands are also being used to raise funds and 10-year-old Eve Bateman is selling them at the Fabb Fitness community sessions.
