A MOTHER who lost her son to a cardiac arrest is set to equip Middlewich with another life saving device after already helping to put 12 around the town.

Linda Boden lost her son, Andrew Cliffe, in 2006 when he died suddenly in his sleep at the age of 26.

Ever since, Linda has put all of her time and energy into campaigning with SADS UK, for defibrillators to be put in schools and public places around the area and nationwide.

Linda has now been donated a 13th defibrillator by Medicare and is currently deciding where best to home it in Middlewich.

Linda said: “I haven’t yet decided where to put it, I have three places in mind but the important thing is to put it where a lot of people go because that’s where these machines need to be.

“Other countries have realised how important they are like in Sweden they are taught how to use a defibrillator from the age of five, but people wouldn’t know where to start here so we need to get them out there and train people how to use them because they save lives.”

Linda was awarded with the defibrillator at a dinner evening on Tuesday, March 11 at the NEC Centre in Birmingham where she was invited to talk about Andrew and the importance of defibrillators.

Linda added: “It was a huge surprise when they gave me the defibrillator, I was absolutely thrilled.

“I can’t thank Medicare enough and John Lumm from the Cheshire Building Society has been absolutely great and has helped us so much.”

Linda has also been working with SADS UK’s campaign to get the life-saving machines in all schools in the UK and have recently been successful with Education Secretary Michael Gove announcing the new requirement.
