NORTHWICH residents are being urged to help Cheshire record its First World War history.
A Community Collection Roadshow will be held at Weaver Hall Museum, in London Road, as part of the Cheshire’s Great War Stories project.
The project is exploring the impact of the Great War upon Cheshire and its people, as well as commemorating their vital contributions. Events and exhibitions will be taking place across the region throughout the year and this roadshow gives Northwich people a chance to bring along their First World War related artefacts, photographs or documents so museum staff and volunteers can help to record the stories behind them and take photographs or scans of the items. The museum will not retain any original artefacts from the visitors, but the aim is to collate them onto a central image bank for research, posterity and commemoration.
The roadshow takes place from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, March 22. There will also be an exhibition of the Cheshire’s experiences in the Great War and the Cheshire Pals re-enactment group will demonstrate aspects of military life in that conflict. Admission is free.
