CHANGES to Middlewich Local Plan have been revealed.

The Local Plan document is due to go before the Strategic Planning Board next Wednesday, February 26.

It has been unveiled before it passes through the final stages of strategic planning board and full council at the end of the month.

The major proposals for Middlewich stipulate that there will be significant extension of employment areas in the town and housing in the area.

Other proposals include regeneration of Crewe for growth and development with new jobs and homes while planning for a greener healthier urban environment.

A major business park is proposed at junction 17 in Sandbach and sustainable urban extensions in Nantwich, Alsager and Sandbach.

The boundary of the site at Glebe Farm in Middlewich is to be expanded to meet Warmingham Lane.

Further, the Local Plan strategy site is expected to provide affordable housing in line with council requirements.

In addition, development proposals adjoining the Trent and Mersey Canal Conservation area must reflect the location and be of a high standard.

Changes to Brooks Lane state there is potential to expand the site into the salt lagoons in the future.

Midpoint 18 has additionally been referenced to as a strategic employment site. The Leader of Cheshire East Council Clr Michael Jones said he believes it is one of the best Local Plans in the country.

He added: “This plan is about developing Cheshire East to maintain its reputation as the best place to live in the north west, whilst providing for our younger generation so they can live and work in the area they were born.

“It is about the future, job availability, excellent educational standards and a great quality of life. This plan, coupled with our five year housing supply, is also about protecting the residents of Cheshire East against unwanted, unsustainable and unplanned development.”

Following the meeting next week, the blueprint will be brought before full council this Friday, February 28. It will require ratification from both committees prior to a final period for representations and submissions to the planning inspectorate.
